For the last few days I’ve been debating whether or not I was going participate in Camp NaNoWriMo’s April session. This is quite possibly the last NaNoWriMo event I may be participating in before I deliver my baby this summer, so part of me really does want to take advantage of this camp event. The other part of me has not been feeling super creative the last few months, so I’m hesitant to commit myself to anything too crazy. I just barely started reading for the year.
You know what’s great about the Camp NaNoWriMo events though? You can set ANY word goal you want. Last November, I worked on Traitors & Tyrants, which basically consisted of a huge rewrite and adding a lot of content starting from page 1. (I will add though that I was about 20K into the book last year by the time NaNoWriMo started and I STILL hit 50K of new words/edits after those words.) I still have the last few chapters to write before I can officially say this round of revisions is done.
There and Back Again
Now, the ending has to be completely rewritten so all of the words I write for both POVs in my book will be brand new words that have never existed before. On top of this, I need to go over part 2 of my book (the smaller portion thank goodness) and work on it some more after I write the actual ending. Once I finish devoting my time to improving only part 2, I need to actually read over the entire book to make sure everything is cohesive and lines up. It sounds like a ton of work when I say it like that but, honestly, most of the work was done last November. This is the easier part.
As much as I would love to start writing a new vampire project, I really want to see Traitors & Tyrants through to the end so I can finally close my door on it. Plus, I’m pretty sure everyone is probably tired of hearing me harp on about this book. And… I’ve entered it as my NaNoWriMo project 3 times already and I’m pretty sure I will be kicked out of the next event if I am still working on it after April is over.
So, to no one’s surprise, I am yet again working on Traitors & Tyrants for a NaNoWriMo event, but I promise this really will be the last time. And if it’s not… then I’ll be back I guess?
That’s the quality content I like to provide.
