Ah, so it’s 2020. We made it. It’s so weird to think that. I mean, I’m not saying I thought the world was going to end, but 2020 always seemed to be this far off place and time. Not anymore I suppose.
I would like to say that while I’ve been MIA for the last few months that I’ve been busy writing or reading a ton but that just isn’t the case. In about mid-December I ended up in a reading slump and it has stubbornly persisted ever since. I did manage to read 77 pages at the tail end of February though, so there’s hope!
NaNoWriMo was a success! I did reach 50K by the end of the month despite being out of town the entire last week, which means that I wrote/revised 70K in the space of 6 weeks. Obviously, my brain was fried. The worst part though? Um, I still have to write the ending of Traitors & Tyrants. *nervous laugh*
Yeah, so I didn’t reach my goal of finishing Traitors & Tyrants before the year was over but I did A LOT of work in it, so I’m pretty proud of my progress. It just needs a few more thousands words in it and then it’ll be done. (And then I can go over part 2 like crazy because it had a lot of changes.)
Now, I am convinced that the biggest reason why my reading slump and therefore writing slump has persisted for so long is because I haven’t felt like myself much over the last month. The holidays were busy but January was long. January was the longest month ever. I was sick all month and that was brutal. I basically lived on my couch or in bed. This persisted for a good portion of February as well so, yeah. Blah. I’m tired of feeling gross.
But that’s okay, because it is for a good cause!
My husband and I are expecting a little bookworm of our own this August! We are extremely excited about it. Now that I’m in the second trimester I’m feeling more like myself and have more energy. I also need to eat every 1-2 hours but, you know, DETAILS. I’m also getting the itch to read and write again as well and return to a lot of my normal activities, which is SUPER nice!
I have tons of reading to catch up on and ARCs that need to be read ASAP. I still have to rest a lot right now, because I’m still regaining strength and energy after being sick for so long. Over doing it is really easy. So I have plenty of time to read. I’m planning on getting my butt in gear and hopefully reading a bunch of books.
What I think I’m going to do, is get a stack of books together and put them beside the couch and then just read all of those this month. I would love to be able to start a really thick book this month and just slowly make my way through it.
For now though, there are just two books I’d like to get finished this month: Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan andThe Killing Fog by Jeff Wheeler.
